STUDY IN THE COOPERATIVE SECTOR


Co-operative Diploma certificate of state op operative union is the essential qualification for the employment in cooperative department and co-operative societies of Kerala.

Junior Diploma in Co-Operation (JDC), Higher Diploma in Co-Operation and Business Management (HDC & BM) are the basic courses in this field.

HDC & BM: Any Degree is the required qualification for this course. 10 marks is grace for PG holders. Usually the age limit is 35 years. But the age limit for SC / ST candidates and employees of co-operative societies are 38 years and 50 years respectively. There is also 10 per cent seats reservation for the Employees of the Co-operative and its allied Departments. The duration of regular and evening batches is 12 and 18 months respectively. There is also a practical training for this course. The course is conducted in 13 co-operative colleges in the state.

Junior Diploma in Co-operation: SSLC is the required qualification for this course. (D-Plus is the minimum grade in the grade system), 10 mark is grace for the students having  plus two and the grace mark for graduates is 20. Age limit is 16 - 35. Age Limit for SC / ST and Co-operative Employees is 38 and 50 years respectively. There will be 320 seats for SC / ST candidates in the Kottarakkara, Cherthala, Kannur and Wayanad centers. 50 per cent seats are reserved for co-operative sector employees. The duration of the course is 10 months. Usually course begins in the month of June.

Co-operative Degree: The College of Co-Operation at the Kerala Agricultural University Campus, Thrissur offers a 4 year degree course of BSc Co-Operation and Banking for the students who have completed plus two with 50 percentage mark.

National Council for Co-operative Training

The National Council for Cooperative Training is a national institution in co-operative sector. 5 Regional Institutes, 14 Cooperative Management Institutes and National Institute of Co-operative Management of Pune, Vaikunta are the main centers of it. One institute of co-operative management is functioning in Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur in Kerala.

Courses

Diploma in Co-operative Business Management (DCBM) - Duration - 36 months. Only in Pune. Eligibility: Any Graduate.

2. PG Diploma in Business Management (PGDIM): Term -2 years. Only in Pune. Eligibility: Bachelor's degree with 50% marks.

3. Master in Business Administration (MBA): Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Dehradun, Lucknow, Madurai, Trivandrum and Kannur. Eligibility: Bachelor's degree with 50% marks.

4. Master in Computer Application (MCA) - Only in the Bangalore center.

5. Higher Diploma in Co-operative Management (HDCM) - Eligibility: Any Graduate. Available in all the centers of the institute. Duration. 26 - 36 weeks. This course is equivalent to HDC in Kerala
