Linguistic
is a study topic which provides good job opportunities like forensic science,
computer programming, speech language pathology, teaching, research,
translation, technical writer, medical transcription which is also very
beneficial to the society. Preparing a
dictionary for the languages that doesn’t have a script is also the job of the
linguistics.
This
is a scientific study of language. The main branch of this is to be divided
into three main divisions.
1. Synchronic and Diachronical: Diachronic
emphasizes the evolution and development of the language while Synchronic emphasizes
the current state of the language.
2. Theoretical and Practical:
Practical Linguistic gives importance to its application while studying the
structure of the language is the area of theoretical linguistic.
Theoretical
linguistics has subdivisions such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax,
semantics, stylistics, and pragmatics.
3. Contextual Linguistics: It
emphasis the study of how language is related to anthropology, psychology,
philosophy, and medicine.
Courses:
Graduate,
Post Graduate Degree and Research Degree courses are available. After completing
plus two in any stream one can join for a degree course in linguistic. Graduates can join the MA.
